My Commitment To You . . .

As a long-time resident of the area, I relished the opportunity to represent the residents of Division 4 in the past and look back on my efforts to create a wheelchair accessible walkway along the Broadwater foreshore as a great highlight and, as I walk there in the evenings, enjoy seeing it enjoyed by all - young and not so young, agile and not so.

•With the upgrading of the Southport Foreshore about to commence, I will work for the upgrading of the Len Fox Park portion of the Division 4 Broadwater foreshore, to a standard commensurate with those new works.

• I will continue to make our parks and sporting reserves a priority, committing to work to increase the City's commitment to maintenance, including more regular mowing services, particularly during the summer growing season.

• I will also seek to see the annual kerbside cleanup returned to Division 4. Recent media coverage of untidy kerbside areas highlights the importance of providing this service for our residents.

• In my previous term as Council, I valued the weekly opportunities at Central Plaza and Labrador Senior Citizens Centre to hear the concerns of residents. I will return those weekly opportunities to meet with constituents.

• As a citizen of our city, we have all become waterwise and putting our wash water onto the garden is now part of life at our house. I will support the responsible use of water and, in particular, look for ways to retain/ sustain our beach showers for residents and visitors alike. I will continue to support rebates and incentives for residents and businesses in our city to be waterwise.

• With increasing congestion on our roads, I am supportive of the establishment of a ferry service to service our City and will work to see the obstacles that have been put in the way of the current proponent removed if at all possible.

• I will work to expand the options for better public transportation for residents of Division 4.

• I will work to ensure that the outcome of the current investigation into a future rapid transit system is transparent and in the best interests of the whole city.

• I will work to increase the access of residents to the range of Council information and services, including community activities, by increasing the number of Council neighbourhood and community centres in the Division and through a range of print and electronic measures.

• Division 4 suffers from a range of drainage problems that have resulted in loss of personal and community property during major rainfall events in recent years. I will commit to seeing that these problems are acknowledged and prioritised to ensure that the works are on a works schedule for future remediation.

• I will work with other levels of Government to ensure that dredging of the Broadwater is undertaken to ensure a safe, sustainable boating system for the Broadwater and, given the range of competing interests involved in our waterways, to ensure that all users are given reasonable and responsible access, be it tourist uses, recreational fishing, sailing etc.

• With the ongoing concerns about public safety and vehicle 'hooning', I will work to increase Police presence in our neighbourhoods and waterways to counter such anti-social behaviour.
